Mother’s Day Sermons

An Effective Mother - 2 Timothy 1:5
The effective mother demonstrates the Christian life.
A significant influence of a mother comes not so much by preaching
or teaching, as it does by example.

A Beauty That Is Not Vain - Proverbs 31:30
There is a beauty which is not vain, and for this Mother's Day,
we would be a healthier and holier and happier people if more of this inner beauty
appeared in all of us.
Let us take time to analyze the beauty that isn't a face, but a feeling.
Let us look at the beauty that is not vain, but which is to be praised.

Crises Of A Mothers Life - Luke 2:19; 40-57
This message is not intended to be a digest of easy answers
for beleaguered parents, nor will it provide quick formulas
to already broken relationships.
This message is an attempt to set forth a few sound principles to help parents
find direction in this difficult task of rearing children.

Today’s Mother- Proverbs 31:10, 27-28
Little things matter to our kids.
They are the things that meet special needs that say, "I love you."
But when a mother's time becomes crowded by competing demands,
there is no time for these little things.
These little things really make a difference.

A Mothers Wages - Exodus 2:9
What are the wages of the mother -- abuse, overwork, heartache?
In our modern life this often seems to be the type of reward that a mother may expect.
However, a godly mother can look beneath the surface, and see
what the real wages are.

Why This Waste? - Mark 14:3-9
Sometimes, we are concerned only with activity and not with the Lord
whom we are supposed to serve.
If we are not careful, we may become so busy that Christ will find it necessary
to suspend our service for a time to help us discover whether it is activity or Himself
that holds us.
In divine service, the principle of waste is the principle of power.
It seems as though we are giving too much and getting nothing,
and that is exactly the secret of pleasing God.
Jesus was trying to help us see that people should come to Him
and waste themselves on Him.

A Good Mother-in-law- Ruth 1:6-18
Those planning to be married should also remember that they become
someone's in-law.
We received a larger family at marriage...
Such an acquisition is a wonderful gift which we should cherish.
The relationships we inherit must also be nurtured.
We should employ the finest interpersonal skills possible within our family structure.

A Godly Mother! - Proverbs 31:10-31
Godly mothers are difficult to find today.
There are good mothers and there are great mothers.
Yet, there is all the difference in the world between a good mother,
a great mother, and a godly Mother!

A Mothers Task! - 2 Timothy 1:1-7
Someone has said, "Mothers write on the hearts of their children
what the rough hand of the world cannot erase
."
A Christian mother's most vital task is passing her faith on to her children,
not only by what she says, but by what she is.

A Mothers Prayer!- 1 Chronicles 29
Every child benefits from someone who believes in him, and the younger the child,
the more important it is to have high expectations.
You may not have an Einstein, but your child has great possibilities!
Expect the best and chances are, that's exactly what you'll get.

History Of Mothers Day(Not A Sermon)
The tradition of honoring mothers is a practice that dates back to the Greek empire.
The ancient Greeks dedicated their annual spring festival to Rhea, the wife
of Cronus and mother of various deities.
The Romans called this event, the Hilaria, by making offerings in the temple of Cybele,
to the mother of the deities (same mother) on the Ides of March.
Early Christians celebrated the festival on the fourth Sunday in Lent in honor of
the Virgin Mary, the Mother of Christ.
They adorned the churches with flowers, jewels, rich metals, and expensive gifts.

Mothers A Blessing Or Blight - Proverbs 4:23,25-26
Unfortunately, we have a way of indoctrinating our children with the ideas
and opinions that were native to our particular generation, often confusing
abiding values with passing opinions.
We pass on our prejudices, quite intact, as if they were ultimate truths.
And yet, our task is not to make our children think the way we do.
Our task is to make them think and to arrive at their own judgments in the light of
abiding standards, which shine in the person of Jesus Christ.

Dedicating Your Best- 1 Samuel 1:11
Would you ever entertain the thought of permitting your child to suffer
for someone else's sake. Of course not!
Your child is the best that life has to offer, and is a part of you.
Being a parent should cause us to be amazed that God would allow -- even give
-- His only Son to suffer and die for our sins.

Love Is the Difference! - 1 Corinthians 13
This love will reach out to include all mankind.
We must do what we can to usher in an era of good will among men.
This will do more than anything else to halt the insane world conflict that is bringing
our social order to the brink of ruin.

Will Our Children Have Faith? - Deut. 6:4-9
Most of us are very much interested in learning how to help our children
have faith in God, and how to help them grow in their faith.
Making sure that our children have faith in Christ is an urgent need.
It is also a desire rooted deeply in Biblical faith.

A Mothers Ambition - Matt. 20:20-23
The most important ambition of every mothers should be for their children
to become believers in Jesus.
Then, pray that God's will dominate them all the days of their lives.
When they are in God's care and keeping, they will an abundant life here
and life forever.

The Meanest Mother- Romans 16:13
You may have had a very loving, godly mother, but there are those who didn't.
Those who may have been neglected, abused and deeply hurt by their mothers
could leave here without receiving anything from the message.
Many have been both loved and wounded by their mothers.
So, we must acknowledge both the positive ways and the negative ways
that our mothers have influenced us.
